It was almost 40 years ago that Larry Fishman, a professional Boston-area bassist, realized that his playing was being drowned out by the increasing number of electronic instruments around him. Luckily, Larry was also an engineer and inventor. The result was his first pickup design, which quickly became hugely popular among jazz and pit orchestra bassists.

Soon, acoustic guitar manufacturers were knocking on his door - first Guild, then C. F. Martin. Larry's side hustle became a full-time job, and the rest is history. Fishman now offers best-in-class pickups for nearly any acoustic stringed instrument, as well as a series of acoustic amps, preamps and sound processors that deliver the absolute best in clean, rich tone.

We stock the most popular items in the Fishman line (see below). But since Fishman is a local Massachusetts manufacturer, we can quickly get you anything else from their extensive catalog. That same Massachusetts base means that factory repair services are right around the corner as well.

Acoustic Amps

Loudbox Artist

With the Loudbox Artist, there is a good deal more headroom than it's smaller version, the Loudbox Mini. Each of the two identical channels has combo 1/4 inch-XLR inputs, which also make it a bit more versatile. Lots of effects if needed with the reverb, delay, echo, chorus, flanger, and slap echo.

The three balanced output XLR DI connections are a great feature, especially if you are playing a larger venue with a house system. Separate DI outputs are available for each of the two channels and for the main mix, so you can use the Artist as your stage monitor while providing feeds to the house board. If you favor a condenser mic, the phantom power is built in. Still incredibly portable at only 25.5 pounds, it's easy to see why these Loudbox amps are the best-sellers out there.

The specs:

  • Two instrument/microphone channels
  • 1/4 inch or XLR input on both channels
  • 120 Watts bi-amped
  • 8 inch woofer, 1 inch tweeter
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • 3-band EQ
  • Anti-feedback knob
  • 24-Volt phantom power for condenser mics
  • 10db pad
  • Phase switch

  • Tweeter knob
  • Balanced output XLR D.I. on each channel and main mix
