The Minor Chord is an authorized dealer for La Patrie classical nylon-string guitars by Robert Godin.
These guitars are made in the village of La Patrie in the eastern townships of Quebec. LaPatrie guitars are crafted from top quality tone woods to produce instruments of impressive resonance and structural integrity. We are pleased to offer these instruments at prices that represent exceltopnal value.
All LaPatrie guitars feature select pressure tested solid cedar tops. Graded and tested for their consistency and strength, each solid top is assured to have the highest levels of stiffness and rigidity along with maximum harmonic vibration. Amazingly, La Patrie cuts the premium wood used for their tops from previously fallen cedar trees with an average age of around 800 years.
LaPatrie guitars also feature a custom polished finish reminiscent of the French polish of the 19th century. This finish, as opposed to "thick" polyester spray finishes, allows the top not only to be protected but also to breathe and vibrate freely. This allows the very important aging process to take its course, resulting in a tone that improves further with age and playing.
The necks on LaPatrie guitars are carved from Honduras mahogany and feature an innovative double-function truss rod system not generally found in traditional classical guitars. This system allows the profile of the neck to be reduced producing a neck of extraordinary comfort, while increasing stability.

La Patrie Models
We normally stock the two La Patrie models shown below, but currently we only have one in stock. We can also, of course, custom order an instrument to your specifications.
Solid cedar top, nicely figured solid Indian rosewood back and sides.
This guitar has an impressive balanced tone with resonant bass and clear, distinct treble. We can't imagine a better value in a solid rosewood classical instrument
The La Patrie Concert model is similar to the Collection, except that the sides and back are solid mahogany. This gives the Concert a tone that is a little brighter than the Collection.
